Hello and Welcome

Welcome, friends! My name is Mikayla, I use she/her pronouns, and I have decided to start a blog. To be honest, I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve started this introductory post. My goal is to share a little bit about myself as a therapist, as a regular human being, and to illustrate my hopes for this blog.

My therapist origin story has various roots. Yes, part of it stems from beliefs that I developed as a kiddo about who I was and where my worth comes from. My mom likes to tell people that I was sticking up for peers and helping others from the very beginning. I am endlessly fascinated by psychology and human nature. And I deeply cherish the therapeutic relationship that I get to share with my clients. Creating this blog is sort of an outlet for me to geek out on therapeutic and clinical topics, and to share the things I learn with others.

Notably, a blog is NOT a scientific journal that lists data and explains unbiased facts. There’s a really personal piece to a blog that allows me to express my thoughts and ideas on things that I find interesting. And as empowering as that is, it’s also very vulnerable. So here we’ve landed, as I make an attempt to step out of my comfort zone and challenge myself to be seen, to be perceived. To use my voice to spread curiosity, compassion and learning. I’m honored to have you join me. :)

There’s lots more I could share, but I think this will do for now as a brief introductory segment. My intention is to share a post twice per month, and I’ll do my best to keep my website up to date with other information as needed. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to fill out the contact form and send me a message. I look forward to learning and growing together!

Take good care and talk soon,

Mikayla
